Hi to all Members,
A big thank you to Keri Clarke who is on our committee for getting the Trust website up and going again.
Now we can check the Centre's calendar again which is essential to those who want to ride in the arena or generally use the grounds.
Please join the blog and add photos and comments when the mood takes you!
We will have our AGM soon so come along and make yourself known.

Annual Teams' Event Day

Third time lucky with the weather. It was a perfect spring day at Totara Park and riders and horses turned up for the Annual Teams' Event Day.
There were twenty two riders in all. The teams of three consisted of one Adult Riding Club member, one Pony Club rider and one rider from Riding for the Disabled. -All the three groups of Totara Park Equestrian Centre. A big thank you to all the helpers who made the day happen.
There were lots of photographers one of whom sent me some photos that captured the day. Enjoy!

Beth took some great photos as usual and she highlighted just how those horses had to concentrate on what they were doing and lift those legs.

Pole Work Clinic with Bree

Bree provided us with three days of challenging fun with the pole work clinic held at Totara Park recently.
Although not everyone could make it for the three sessions the horses were not disadvantaged by that. They all worked really well and that was to Bree’s credit

The most challenging part for Molly and me was the raised cavalletti placed on a circle. We walked over these a couple of times before Molly was ready for ‘lift off”.
It was ok to do a grid of collected trot followed by a grid of extended trot but try it the other way. I was surprised how well the horses copted with every task set before them.

They were all well crafted sessions and everyone agreed we must do this again.
Beth, Jo and I tried to take some action shots.

Western Riding Challenge Day August 25th

The Western Challenge was great fun. Sorry for those who missed out, you missed a lot of fun. Thanks to David and Serranta for judging the event. Western days will definitely become regular events at the club. Everyone who participated were great sports with great give-it-a-go attitude. Will post some photos on this site soon.

Dune Lakes

This is a great winter destination for riders as the the ground is sandy and is rideable all of the year. Hosts Rosemary and Dave really make you welcome and the accommodation is cosy and warm. As you leave the busy highway and drive down Wilson Road towards the west coast the scenery is tranquil with lots of lakes surrounded by ti trees and flax with attendant bird life. Beth took a few photos.
